The goal of Community physiotherapy is to work with patients and their whānau to help the patient reach their potential and to live as independently as possible, through assessment and intervention specific to the home and community environment.

Services we provide
Community physiotherapists may see you in see you in a clinic or your home, depending on where your needs can best be assessed. They can provide:
- an assessment of your current health condition and how you are coping at home
- a personal rehabilitation programme
- advice and education for yourself, your carers and whānau
- assessment for, and possible provision of, walking aids or other equipment to help you remain independent
- chest physiotherapy, including advice and education.
Community physiotherapy services are:
- available 8am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday
- closed on public holidays.
Referral information
We accept self-referrals, as well as referrals from whānau and healthcare professionals involved in your care.
Community physiotherapy is available to people aged over 16 years, are not able to access Outpatient physiotherapy and have reduced or diminished function, activity or participation due to:
- a temporary or permanent illness
- a disability or non-ACC injury
- being housebound or their needs are specific to their home environment.
Tamariki and rangatahi under 16 years old can be referred to Community physiotherapy if they have personal health issues, respiratory conditions or both.
