Services we provide
How Inpatient physiotherapists help you depends on why you are in hospital. How they help in your care may include:
- education
- positioning
- chest physiotherapy exercises for respiratory or musculoskeletal concerns
- exercise programmes
- sitting out in a chair
- progressing the distance you can walk
- organising equipment to help aid your recovery
- assessing how you manage basic daily activities before being discharged.
Inpatient physiotherapy services are available:
- 7:30am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday for all services
- 8am to 4:30pm Saturday and Sunday for acute respiratory, limited orthopaedic services and Emergency department and Assessment and diagnostic unit discharge assessments
- 4:30pm to 8am every day for acute respiratory service only.
Referral information
Any health professional can refer you for inpatient physiotherapy. The ward physiotherapist will then determine the appropriateness of physiotherapy requests for each patient. Some referrals may be declined or not seen within the anticipated timeframe.
