Our usual hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 4:30pm.


Services we provide

Social workers look at the interaction between people, their health, and their social environment. Our team is there to help you through any emotional and practical changes you may face as a result of illness or disability. This can involve:

  • assessing your circumstances
  • discharge planning
  • referral to community support services and resources
  • advocacy on your behalf
  • providing information on available health and disability resources
  • whānau support while you are in hospital
  • education, counselling and aiding communication between ward staff, you and your whānau
  • family violence and child protection issues
  • pregnancy counselling, information and support
  • aged care information and support navigating the transition into care
  • support to navigate financial concerns and legal matters, for example Enduring Power of Attorney and PPPR
  • crisis and trauma support.

Social work has a strong focus on promoting independence and empowering you to make your own informed decisions. You are encouraged to take the lead in your health and wellness.
