Senior doctors and dentists at Health NZ public hospitals and health services plan to strike for 48 hours on Tuesday 23 September and Wednesday 24 September. Emergency departments will be open for emergencies only. GPs, after-hours and urgent care clinics, and other community health providers are not affected by the strike and will continue to operate as normal.

Services we provide
We provide free sexual health services for people across Hawke's Bay. Services are provided by specialist clinicians with advanced knowledge and education specific to sexual health.
Services include:
- basic STI screening
- contraception, including long-acting reversible contraceptives
- pregnancy testing
- STI counselling and advice
- complex case management
- specialist care and treatment.
We also have 2 24/7 sexual health services for people who have experienced sexual violence.

- Wairoa
- Central Hawke's Bay.

We accept self-referrals and referrals from healthcare professionals.
Sexual health services by other providers
Most healthcare providers in the region offer sexual health services, including:
- advice and information
- contraception for girls, including oral contraception, depo-provera injection and Jadelle (which goes just under the skin in the arm)
- free condoms
- STI (sexually transmitted infection) checks
- pregnancy tests
- referral to the hospital if needed.
Sexual health services are free if you are:
- 20 years old and under and live in Hastings, Napier or Central Hawke's Bay
- 24 years old and under and live in Wairoa.
