Services we provide

Gynaecology is the care of women with problems of the female reproductive system (ovaries, tubes, womb, cervix, vagina). The gynaecology team provides general gynaecology, and limited gynaecology oncology services for ovarian and endometrial malignancy.

General gynaecology

Menstrual disorders, endometriosis and pelvic pain, hormone replacement therapy, contraceptive and sterilisation advice, and early pregnancy difficulties.

Urogynaecology

Diagnoses and treats pelvic floor dysfunction and urinary incontinence. Regular clinics are available for diagnosis and to plan treatment.

Colposcopy

Clinics for investigating and examining the cervix.

Pregnancy termination

Safe legal and person-centred abortion service to people of the Waikato region.

Pre-pregnancy consulting services

Provided through gynaecology clinics. We provide secondary and tertiary care to people who require assessment and ongoing management throughout their pregnancy in our antenatal clinics.

Early pregnancy assessment clinic

A referral and appointment based unit that provides support and acts as a link to further care management that people may need.

Fertility services

Waikato offers publicly funded fertility consultations and treatments through fertility associates.

Publicly funded fertility consultations are available to people who are:

  • not pregnant after 12 months or trying, or
  • have a known male or female factor such as endometriosis, blocked tubes, anovulation or a very low sperm count, or
  • have a genetic condition that can be identified and treated before pregnancy, or
  • require fertility preservation before undergoing medical treatment that is likely to compromise their fertility, such as chemotherapy.
