Services we provide
We provide a hearing check for pēpi to identify and help treat moderate to profound hearing loss. The hearing check is completed between 0 days and 3 months.
Pēpi born in hospital will be screened before going home in most cases. An outpatient appointment will be arranged at clinics held regularly at:
- Alexandra
- Balclutha
- Cromwell
- Dunedin
- Gore
- Invercargill
- Lumsden
- Oamaru
- Queenstown
- Te Anau
- Wanaka
- Winton
Referral information
In most cases hearing screening will be done before you and pēpi leave hospital. We'll contact you if your appointment will be at an outpatient clinic.
Cost
Newborn Hearing screening is free to every pēpi born in Aotearoa New Zealand. Non-residents will be charged for specialist audiology services if required.
