Radiology Services provides different types of medical imaging of the body, including internal organs, bones and tissues. The images help with the diagnosis of damage or disease and help guide treatment.

Dunedin Hospital
Radiology services at at Dunedin Hospital include:
- general radiology — inpatients, outpatients, theatre, mobile units, accident and emergency
- fluoroscopy
- CT (computed tomography or CAT scan)
- MRI (magnetic resonance imaging)
- ultrasound
- DSA (digital subtraction angiography)
- nuclear medicine
- a general x-ray service to urgent doctors.
As we are a teaching hospital we often have students in training. There is a possibility you may be x-rayed by a supervised student, but you will be informed of this and have the right to refuse.
Oamaru Hospital
Services we provide include:
- plain film x-ray
- ultrasound
- CT scans.
The department is open 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
An urgent service is provided through the emergency department 24 hours a day for plain film x-rays and CT scans.
Southland Hospital
Radiology services at at Southland Hospital include:
- x-rays — inpatients, outpatients, theatre, mobiles
- fluoroscopy
- MRI (magnetic resonance imaging)
- ultrasound
- nuclear medicine.

We accept referrals from your main healthcare provider, as well as other health professionals including:
- nurses
- physiotherapists
- dentists
- podiatrists
- chiropractors
- medical specialists.
