Hospital shuttle services
Northland health operates the Kaitaia to Whangārei and Whangārei to Auckland Health Shuttle services Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays.
The health shuttles are a free service available for those who require travel support to attend:
- outpatient and inpatient appointments at Northland and Auckland hospital and health centre facilities
- parents of children with appointments at Northland and Auckland hospital and health centre facilities (you will need to supply your own approved car seat)
support person/carer of older people or people with - disabilities that require a support person
- those returning from a Northland or Auckland hospital or health centre facility back to their Northland residence.
Children
All passengers under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Children ages 7 or under are required by law to travel in an approved restraint. You will be required to supply and install this car seat in the shuttle as per the manufacturer's requirements, you will also need to supply any seatbelt locking clip.
Booking
Book your shuttle by 2pm the day before travel.

You will need your NHI Number and your hospital appointment handy.
At the shuttle
You will need to show your ID and appointment letter to the driver before boarding.
On the shuttle
- Respect and follow your driver's instructions.
- Respect fellow passengers.
- Do not use offensive language.
- Do not eat or drink - water is ok.
- Do not smoke or vape.
- Wear your seatbelt at all times.
- The shuttle will only stop at designated stops.
Unfortunately, the shuttle services do not cater for those who require wheelchair access.
