The ear van based in Porirua provides free checks for tamariki from 0 to when they turn 19. This service is provided by a registered nurse who has special training in ear health.

Services we provide
Our clinics run from 9:30am to 3pm year-round, except for public holidays.
The nurse provides:
- assessment and ongoing monitoring of ear problems such as runny ears, glue ear and sore ears
- test of the eardrum (tympanometry)
- ear wax removal using microscope and suction
- ear canal cleaning, aural toileting using microscope and suction
- removal of foreign objects in the ear canal such as cotton buds or beads
- parental education and support
- links to other services.

- vision and hearing technicians
- public health nurses
- other health professionals.
