Services we provide
The audiology team at Wakari and Southland hospitals specialises in testing the hearing of tamariki, and fitting tamariki with hearing aids. They also see adult patients on referral from the Ear, nose and throat, and Neurology and oncology services.
Audiologists are highly trained in the prevention, identification, assessment and non-medical treatment of hearing disorders.
Audiology services provide:
- hearing tests for all ages including newborns referred from the Newborn hearing screening programme
- habilitation and hearing aid fitting for tamariki with permanent or significant hearing loss
- ear wax removal
- auditory processing assessment
- ototoxicity monitoring.
