Online doctor appointments

Online doctor services often have appointments available on the same day. You do not need to be enrolled to use some of them. They are a good option if your usual doctor or nurse cannot fit you in. These appointments usually take place through a video app or a phone call. There will be a cost.

Why use an online doctor service

It is recommended that everyone living in Aotearoa New Zealand is enrolled with a local GP. If you need medical advice, this should be your first place to call for an appointment.

An online doctor service might be a good option instead of going to After Hours or Urgent Medical Centre if you need an appointment quickly and:

  • your usual doctor cannot fit you in
  • you are struggling to enrol with a local doctor.

Online doctor services are able to provide prescriptions.
