Assessment, Treatment and Rehabilitation (AT&R) Unit — South Canterbury

The AT&R Unit provides coordinated, multi-disciplinary, customised care to meet the complex needs of people with age-related disorders. The goal is to restore functional ability, to enable people to live as independently as possible. The unit has 17 beds — patients usually stay 11 to 14 days.

Services we provide

The goal of the AT&R Unit is to restore people's functional ability and enable them to live as independently as possible by:

  • optimising health through individualised assessment and targeted treatments
  • maintaining independence through rehabilitation interventions and referrals to appropriate support services
  • providing encouragement and support for reaching these goals.

In the community, the Needs Assessment Service assesses the needs of people who struggle with daily activities because of age, a health condition or disability.
