Services we provide

Speech language therapists work in the:

  • older persons assessment, rehabilitation and treatment wards, including over 65 years stroke rehabilitation ward
  • Burwood spinal unit
  • orthopaedic rehabilitation unit
  • orthopaedic surgical unit.

Swallowing assessment

We assess swallowing using:

  • flexible endoscopic evaluation of swallowing (FEEs)
  • an x-ray movie of your swallowing (videoflouroscopy or VFSS).

We have a videofluoroscopy clinic service for inpatients and outpatients. We provide this together with radiology for people being seen by community speech language therapy services.

Speech language therapy education placements

We offer supervised clinical speech language therapy education placements for tertiary institutions in Aotearoa and often support relevant postgraduate clinical research.
