Senior doctors and dentists at Health NZ public hospitals and health services plan to strike for 48 hours on Tuesday 23 September and Wednesday 24 September. Emergency departments will be open for emergencies only. GPs, after-hours and urgent care clinics, and other community health providers are not affected by the strike and will continue to operate as normal.

- help patients and their whānau or carers to adjust to changes resulting from a health condition or disability
- connect people with community services and assistance.

- grief and loss
- the effects of hospitalisation
- adjusting to a newly-diagnosed condition or disability
- traumatic births
- pregnancy options
- trauma (accidents, amputations, acute illness)
- stress and mild anxiety
- family and carer issues, including vulnerable children and adults
- frequent admissions due to lack of social support
- isolation as a result of health issues.
