- Kaikoura
- Selwyn.
Services we provide
We provide community-based free health support for tamariki in Canterbury, including:
Support for schools and early education services
We provide:
- connection with school and kura kaupapa on a regular basis
- partnering with whānau, tamariki and rangatahi when health issues impact home and/or school life
- referral to appropriate support services in partnership with whānau
- appointment-only student health services in some secondary schools and kura
- support with health promotion and education in schools and kura, early childhood education centres and Te Kōhanga Reo
- Well Child Tamariki Ora Services in Kaikoura, Chatham Islands and Banks Peninsula for 0-5-year olds
- BCG (TB) immunisation and Mantoux testing (0 to 5-year olds)
- B4 School checks
- school-based immunisation programme
- offering immunisations during routine healthcare visits (opportunistic immunisations)
- home-based bed alarm programme for bed wetting.

Referral information
Anyone can contact the service including:
- school staff and students
- parents and whānau
- health professionals
- community agencies and NGO providers.
You can get a referral by:
- completing the public health nursing referral form
- calling 03 383 6877 (extension 99777)
Parents or caregivers must give consent before a public health nurse can make contact.
